Java Jazz
Bio Information
Java Jazz has been
performing vocal and instrumental stylings of traditional jazz standards
and originals, including swing, blues, latin, ballads, and funk/jazz-rock
in Austin since 1996. Many engagements utilize the core (trio) configuration usually
comprising keyboard/bass, woodwinds, and guitar. The other common configuration
adds bass and drums, however, just about every possible configuration from 2-piece
to 5-piece has been used for various performances depending upon budgetary and
venue requirements, and patron preferences.
Java Jazz has performed
at venues such as Nutty Brown Cafe, Bergstrom Airport, Manuel's, Y-Bar & Grill, The Lakeway
Inn, Barton Creek Country Club, Central Market Cafe, Hickory Street Grill, Mozart's Coffeehouse, Barnes
& Noble, NXNW, J's Bistro, Borders, Speakeasy, Caucus Club, Sam Hill's Restaurant, Jazz
on 6th Street, The Motorola Marathon, and many others. Java
Jazz also performs many private engagements from large functions such as weddings
and convention mixers to small in-home parties such as birthdays and Mardi-Gras celebrations,
and any just about any other kind of event where fun and good music mix.
Java Jazz was awarded
first place in the 1997 Round Rock Jazz & Blues Festival.
Java Jazz Personell: The core
trio usually consists of J. Bradley Jr. (woodwinds and vocals), Danny Marquette (keyboards),
and Paul Hollis (guitar and vocals), with Dan Lott (bass) and Mike Rieman (percussion)
usually filling out the quintet version. There are many other very talented musicians and friends
who ocasionally substitute, have become part of the family, and are "instrumental" in
helping keep Java Jazz swinging. Among them are
Karl Rehn (keyboards), Josh Lowe (bass), Tim Nolan (keyboards), Mike Rieman (bass),
Chris Trafton (drums), Alex Scott (bass), Matt LeCour (bass), Jonathan Singer (drums),
Jeff Botta (drums).
